Katie Bligh (b. 1994, UK) is an artist based in Poole and Bournemouth, currently an undergraduate studying BA (Hons) Fine Art at the Arts University Bournemouth (AUB). Some of her recent exhibitions include Hide at ArtSway (2015) and The Digital Collective at AUB (2015). Bligh’s work was selected for an upcoming collaborative project in Bournemouth, The Garden PARTy, showing in May 1 – 10th 2015. Bligh is currently curating a show in Boscombe, which will hopefully take place in summer 2015, allowing artists with different practices to collaborate together. Her practice utilises a variation of media, but currently focuses on print, painting and photography. Her work responds to issues around the digital vs. the physical, visibility in the digital age and the idea of ‘the original’, exploring accessibility of information online. Current work includes Street Views, a series of photo spheres added to Google Maps in response to producing an archive of 'failed' street view images. These unsuccessful images often uncovered people's identities through missing algorithms, were glitched through colour blocks or showed scenes you wouldn't expect to find on a public search engine.
